Bermuda’s homegrown carrier BermudAir is betting big on the New York metropolitan market, rolling out a trio of nonstop routes from LaGuardia, Newark and Westchester County that tourism leaders say will deepen the island’s access to one of its most important visitor hubs.

Building the ‘New York Triangle’

The airline has branded its expanded New York area network the “New York Triangle,” reflecting nonstop links between Bermuda and three key airports: LaGuardia, Newark Liberty International and Westchester County in White Plains. The concept is designed to capture travelers across the wider region, from Manhattan and the outer boroughs to northern suburbs in New York and Connecticut.

According to BermudAir’s October 2025 network announcement, new nonstop services to LaGuardia and Newark complement the carrier’s existing Westchester service, creating a three-point network that offers departures from every major corridor of the metro area. LaGuardia and Newark flights operate twice weekly, while Westchester is served three times a week, offering a mix of weekday and weekend options to appeal to both business and leisure travelers.

All three routes are flown with BermudAir’s Embraer E175 and E190 aircraft, configured with distinct Business and Economy cabins. The carrier promotes a boutique, hospitality-led onboard experience that blends Bermudian service with competitive pricing, part of a broader strategy to differentiate itself in a crowded Northeast corridor while remaining accessible to cost-conscious flyers.

The expansion into LaGuardia and Newark also represents a maturation of BermudAir’s initial niche strategy centered on Westchester. Where the Westchester route first targeted affluent suburbs and smaller-airport convenience, the new flights bring the brand into two of the region’s busiest hubs, dramatically increasing visibility and potential traffic flows to the island.

Convenience and Connectivity for New York Travelers

For New York area residents, the expanded network significantly widens the range of convenient departure points for a quick island escape. LaGuardia offers straightforward access for Manhattan, Queens and parts of Brooklyn, while Newark taps demand from northern New Jersey and western suburbs. Westchester Airport, meanwhile, remains a favored option for travelers in Westchester and Fairfield counties seeking to avoid the congestion of the larger hubs.

BermudAir’s schedule has been tailored to enable easy short breaks and even day trips, a tradition that Bermuda and New York once shared more frequently. Morning departures from Bermuda to New York, paired with late afternoon returns from Westchester, reintroduce the possibility of same-day business meetings or shopping excursions in the city, while weekend patterns on LaGuardia and Newark flights cater to leisure travelers aiming for two- or three-night stays.

From the New York side, flying times of around two to two and a half hours keep Bermuda firmly in the “short-haul” category, competing directly with Florida and parts of the Caribbean for winter sun seekers. With fares promoted from the low-$100 range one way on select dates and package pricing through BermudAir’s Holidays arm, the airline is aiming to position Bermuda as an attainable premium escape rather than an exclusively luxury destination.

The carrier’s entry into LaGuardia and deeper presence in Newark also open additional one-stop connectivity opportunities via interline partners and self-connect itineraries. While BermudAir remains focused primarily on point-to-point service, its presence at high-traffic airports inevitably plugs Bermuda more firmly into North American and, by extension, global travel flows.

Coordinated Push With Tourism and Hotel Partners

The New York area expansion is closely aligned with efforts by the Bermuda Tourism Authority and local hoteliers to grow year-round visitor volumes. Tourism officials have highlighted nonstop access from major U.S. gateways as one of the most critical levers for increasing arrivals, particularly during shoulder and winter seasons when hotel capacity is available and the island’s mild climate offers a contrast to Northeast winters.

In conjunction with the “New York Triangle” launch, BermudAir Holidays introduced a winter promotion featuring heavily discounted return fares to Bermuda for travelers who book hotel stays through the airline’s packaging platform. Backed by the Bermuda Tourism Authority and the Bermuda Hotel Association, the campaign targets travel from early December through late February, traditionally a softer period for the island’s tourism industry.

Travel packaging has become a central tool in BermudAir’s strategy. Through BermudAir Holidays, visitors can bundle flights, accommodation and experiences, simplifying planning while channeling more direct spend to local hospitality businesses. Tourism leaders see this integrated approach as a way to encourage longer stays and higher per-visitor spending, especially from the lucrative New York market, where travelers often look for seamless, time-efficient getaways.

Industry stakeholders say the airline’s marketing in the New York region is helping reposition Bermuda in travelers’ minds, not only as a summer beach destination but as a year-round island with golf, wellness retreats, cultural experiences and culinary offerings accessible in just a few hours’ flying time.

Strengthening Bermuda’s Airlift and Visitor Mix

BermudAir’s New York expansion comes amid broader efforts to diversify and expand Bermuda’s airlift from the Eastern United States and Canada. Since its launch in 2023, the carrier has steadily added cities including Boston, Baltimore/Washington, Orlando, Providence and Montreal, supplementing services operated by U.S. legacy and low-cost airlines and giving the island more control over its connectivity.

For Bermuda, having a dedicated national carrier focused squarely on the island’s needs helps stabilize capacity and support long-term tourism and business objectives. While some experimental routes have been adjusted or discontinued in response to demand, the sustained focus on high-potential markets such as the New York area underscores where the strongest growth opportunities lie.

Tourism analysts note that increased competition and capacity into Bermuda from the Northeast has the potential to moderate peak-season fares and make off-peak travel more appealing, encouraging visitors to spread trips throughout the year. This in turn supports jobs in hospitality, transport and local attractions, while giving residents more options and price points for their own travel.

Local officials have also emphasized the role of enhanced air service in attracting conferences, incentive groups and remote workers who value quick, reliable links to major business centers. With LaGuardia and Newark now part of its permanent map alongside Westchester, BermudAir is better positioned to market Bermuda as both a leisure escape and a convenient base for work-and-play travel tied to the New York market.

Outlook for the New York–Bermuda Corridor

As the “New York Triangle” settles into regular operation, aviation and tourism stakeholders will watch closely how demand develops across the three airports and seasons. Early indications from the carrier and tourism officials suggest robust interest from both Bermudians traveling to the city and New Yorkers seeking a quick, upscale island break.

The combined effect of convenient airport options, short flight times and targeted promotions is expected to lift visitor numbers from the New York region over the coming winters. Bermuda’s tourism planners are already working with hotels, tour operators and event organizers to ensure the island’s product keeps pace with increased air access, focusing on new experiences and shoulder-season programming.

For BermudAir, success in the New York area will reinforce its model of building a dense, high-value network concentrated along the Eastern seaboard, where relatively short stage lengths and strong leisure demand align with the capabilities of its Embraer fleet. For Bermuda, the expanded network offers a tangible opportunity to convert proximity into sustainable tourism growth and a deeper, more resilient relationship with one of its most important source markets.
