EVA Air is set to tighten air links between Taiwan and the United States with a new nonstop service between Taipei and Washington, D.C., a long-anticipated route that will connect Taiwan’s main international hub directly with the U.S. capital region for the first time.

The Taiwanese carrier will launch four weekly flights between Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport on June 26, 2026, using Boeing 787-9 aircraft in a three-class configuration. The new service makes Washington, D.C., EVA Air’s 10th North American gateway and further cements the airline’s position as the largest operator of Taiwan–North America routes by destinations and weekly frequencies.

According to the schedule filed by EVA Air, flight BR04 will depart Taipei at 7:30 p.m. and arrive at Washington Dulles at 10:30 p.m. local time on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The return flight, BR03, will leave Dulles at 1:50 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, arriving in Taipei at 5:45 a.m. the following day. The ultra long haul flight is blocked at about 15 hours westbound and just under 16 hours eastbound, placing it among the carrier’s longest services.

The route will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 configured with Royal Laurel Class, the airline’s flagship business cabin, alongside Economy Class and its newest fourth generation Premium Economy. The product mix is designed to capture both high yielding government and corporate traffic in the Washington region and growing leisure flows between East Asia and the U.S. East Coast.

Strategic Boost for U.S.–Taiwan Connectivity

The new nonstop link is being framed by EVA Air and airport officials as a strategic expansion that strengthens air connectivity between Taiwan and the United States at a time of deepening economic and people to people ties. By removing the need for connections through other Asian or U.S. hubs, the route is expected to shorten travel times significantly for passengers traveling between Taipei and the National Capital Region.

Washington Dulles serves as the primary international gateway for the Washington metropolitan area and a major hub for United Airlines, a fellow Star Alliance member. The partnership opens up a wide range of same day connections beyond Dulles to cities across the eastern and central United States, while EVA Air’s Taipei hub offers onward links to major destinations throughout Northeast and Southeast Asia.

Regional authorities have projected that the new service could generate more than 61 million dollars in annual economic impact for the National Capital Region through visitor spending, increased trade activity, and expanded business ties. The route also enhances access for officials, researchers, and business travelers moving between the U.S. capital and Taiwan’s political and technology centers.

Network Expansion Across North America and Asia

The Washington, D.C. launch follows EVA Air’s rapid build out of its North American network, including the start of Dallas–Fort Worth services in October 2025. Once the Taipei–Washington flights begin, the airline will operate to 10 gateways across the United States and Canada, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Houston, Chicago, Dallas–Fort Worth, Vancouver and Toronto.

In total, EVA Air plans to operate 98 weekly flights between Taiwan and North America during the upcoming schedule period, giving it the widest network of any Taiwanese carrier in the transpacific market. The combination of multiple gateways and dense frequencies is intended to support both point to point demand and complex itineraries connecting secondary cities in Asia with key commercial centers in the Americas.

On the Asian side of the network, early morning arrivals into Taipei from Washington are timed to feed a bank of departures across the region. Travelers from the U.S. East Coast will be able to connect onward to major cities in Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia and beyond, often without the need for additional security screening. EVA Air’s partnerships with other Star Alliance members, along with agreements with several North American carriers, extend that connectivity to more than 200 destinations throughout the Americas.

Premium Economy Focus and Passenger Experience

A key feature of the new route is EVA Air’s latest generation Premium Economy cabin, which is being positioned as a cornerstone of its long haul product strategy. The airline highlights what it describes as one of the industry’s most generous seat pitches in this class, upgraded materials and finishes, and amenities that bring the experience closer to a traditional business class offering than to standard economy.

Business travelers on the Taipei–Washington flights will have access to the carrier’s Royal Laurel Class, which features lie flat seats, direct aisle access and refined inflight dining tailored to ultra long haul operations. Economy travelers will see updated seating, inflight entertainment and connectivity options suited to the more than 15 hour journey. EVA Air has consistently emphasized its service standards, supported by strong rankings in international airline quality surveys.

The Boeing 787-9 is expected to offer fuel efficiency, quieter cabins and improved air quality compared with older generation widebodies, all of which are increasingly important for passenger comfort on routes of this length. The aircraft’s range performance also gives EVA Air flexibility to operate the service year round while managing headwinds and other operational variables over the North Pacific.

Tourism and Business Travel Opportunities

The launch of the Taipei–Washington, D.C. route arrives as tourism boards and travel partners work to stimulate two way visitor flows between Taiwan and the U.S. East Coast. EVA Air is coordinating with leading travel agencies in Taiwan on new itineraries that combine its exclusive Washington service with existing flights to New York, packaging multi city tours that highlight political landmarks, cultural attractions and regional cities along the Eastern Seaboard.

For U.S. based travelers, the new flights add another convenient option for accessing Taiwan’s mix of high tech industry, vibrant night markets, mountain landscapes and cultural heritage sites. Washington area residents will also have a new one stop pathway to a wide swath of Asia via Taipei, creating fresh opportunities for both leisure exploration and corporate travel.

As ticket sales ramp up ahead of the June 26 launch date, industry observers will be watching booking trends, premium cabin performance and connecting traffic flows to gauge the route’s early impact. For now, the announcement marks a significant milestone in the evolving air corridor between Taiwan and the United States, with EVA Air positioning itself at the center of that growing transpacific bridge.
