Hi Travelers, I’ve been submitting for about a year and a half to The Traveler, sharing news about clothing optional resorts, RV parks and campgrounds affiliated with the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR.com).

However, it’s been a while since I’ve explained  just what AANR is and its mission to support the rights of nudists to enjoy non-sexualized outdoor recreation in appropriate settings, among other guaranteed rights.

The AANR is supported by a network of seven regional organizations in 26 U,S. states and Canadian provinces, that play an essential role in promoting, protecting, and strengthening the naturist movement across North America.

While the national organization sets broad policies and provides overall leadership, the AANR regions serve as the local connection to clubs, members, and communities. Their work ensures that naturism remains accessible, welcoming, and properly represented at the grassroots level.

Supporting Clubs and Members

One of the core responsibilities of the AANR regions is to support their affiliated landed (resorts and campgrounds) and non-landed (mobile social) clubs as well as individual members.

These regions offer guidance, training, and resources to help clubs operate effectively and maintain AANR standards. This includes assisting club leadership, providing marketing materials, encouraging membership growth, and creating networks that foster collaboration and shared success within the nudist community.

Education and Outreach

AANR regions actively work to educate the public about the values and benefits of social nudism. Through newsletters, social media, outreach events, and community involvement, regions help correct misconceptions and promote body-positive, family-friendly nudist recreation. They also assist new nudists in finding welcoming club environments and safe ways to explore the naturist lifestyle.

Organizing Events and Activities

To build strong community bonds, AANR regions coordinate regional events and support local gatherings. Whether it’s regional conventions, educational workshops, or social weekends at member clubs, regional activities create meaningful connections and strengthen the sense of unity and belonging among naturists.

Leadership and Member Communication

Clear and consistent communication is a key responsibility. AANR regions communicate with clubs and members about policy updates, regional initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and industry news. They also provide a pathway for member concerns or suggestions to reach the national organization, ensuring everyone’s voice is represented.

Maintaining Standards and Best Practices

AANR regions help ensure that affiliated clubs uphold the principles and standards of the association, including ethics, safety, and inclusivity. They assist clubs in addressing challenges, reviewing policies, and maintaining an environment that reflects AANR’s commitment to respect, consent, and personal freedom.

Conclusion

AANR regions are the backbone of the naturist movement, connecting national leadership with the local communities where nudism thrives. Through support, education, advocacy, event coordination, and communication, they protect the rights of nudists and promote a positive, responsible culture of body freedom. Their continued dedication ensures that naturism remains strong, respected, and accessible for generations to come.
