Flagship Mega-Ship Adds a “Chocolossal” Attraction
Publicly available information shows that MSC World Asia, the third vessel in MSC Cruises’ World-class series, will feature a dedicated Venchi venue measuring about 3,200 square feet, or roughly 300 square meters. The space is being billed as the most extensive Venchi chocolate experience yet created at sea and the largest venue of its kind across the MSC fleet.
The attraction will be positioned in the ship’s Galleria district on Deck 6, a high-traffic indoor promenade designed as a central social hub. Plans indicate seating for more than 60 guests, integrating the chocolate concept into the wider food, beverage and retail mix that has become a hallmark of the World-class design.
MSC World Asia is scheduled to enter service in December 2026 with Mediterranean itineraries, adding another high-profile collaboration to the brand’s growing roster of culinary partners. The Venchi space extends a relationship already seen on several MSC ships, where the Italian chocolatier and gelato specialist operates smaller branded outposts.
Inside the 3,200-Square-Foot Venchi Destination
The new venue is being framed as a multi-sensory destination that blends three concepts in one: a retail boutique, a sit-down café and a full gelateria. Renderings released by MSC Cruises highlight floor-to-ceiling displays of chocolate boxes, sculptural gelato-inspired decor and porthole views that emphasize the setting at sea.
The retail area is expected to stock Venchi’s signature boxed chocolates, pralines and gifting collections, giving passengers access to a selection more reminiscent of a city flagship store than a traditional cruise-ship counter. Reports indicate that ready-to-buy items will be complemented by freshly prepared treats produced on board each day.
In the café zone, guests will be able to order coffee, hot chocolate, pastries such as croissants and crêpes and, later in the day, chocolate-influenced cocktails. The gelateria will serve a rotating lineup of Venchi gelato flavors, extending a concept that has proved popular on other MSC ships where the brand is already present.
Design details point to an emphasis on comfort and visual impact, with plush seating and bold color accents intended to contrast with the white, gallery-like setting. The space is positioned as both a daytime family stop and an evening lounge-style venue within the broader promenade.
Live Chocolate Lab and Bespoke Creations
One of the most distinctive elements of the MSC World Asia installation will be a live chocolate-making station. According to published coverage, guests will be able to watch Venchi chocolatiers tempering, molding and finishing products in full view, turning the production process itself into an onboard attraction.
Adjacent to this station, the venue will include what is being described as a “chocolate lab,” where passengers can assemble their own bespoke chocolate bars and slabs. Using premium inclusions such as Piedmont hazelnuts and Venchi’s signature chocolate caviar pearls, guests will choose their preferred combinations before the bar is finished and packaged.
Digital tools will allow for customized designs on packaging, adding a layer of personalization that aligns with broader trends in experiential retail. The interactive format is expected to appeal to families, couples and brand enthusiasts looking for a hands-on activity beyond traditional dining.
The concept builds on existing chocolate-focused experiences found on other MSC ships, but the World Asia installation is positioned as a more expansive and immersive evolution, with a larger footprint and a broader range of participatory options.
Exclusive Crunchy Waves Gelato to Mark the Launch
To spotlight the partnership, MSC Cruises and Venchi have jointly developed a limited-edition gelato flavor called Crunchy Waves. Information released by both brands describes the flavor as a visual and textural homage to sea and shore, with layered ingredients and contrasting colors.
The recipe features a vanilla gelato base topped with hazelnut biscuit and salted toffee pieces inspired by the traditional Italian Bacio di Dama biscuit. A final layer colored with blue spirulina is designed to evoke the tones of the Mediterranean, reinforcing the maritime setting of MSC World Asia’s early itineraries.
Crunchy Waves is scheduled to appear first in select Venchi stores on land in August 2026 in markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Italy. The flavor will then be served on board MSC ships that already host Venchi gelaterias and will be a permanent feature at the new venue on MSC World Asia when the ship enters service in December.
The collaboration underscores MSC’s broader strategy of using signature food-and-beverage experiences to differentiate its newest vessels, pairing recognizable European brands with large-scale, purpose-built spaces.
Positioning MSC World Asia in a Competitive Cruise Market
With more than 40 bars, lounges, cafés and restaurants planned on MSC World Asia, the Venchi destination is one element within a wider emphasis on specialty and experiential dining. Fact sheets and promotional material for the ship highlight new concepts such as a Pan-Asian street food area and an elevated coffee emporium, alongside returning favorites like the Masters of the Sea pub.
The decision to dedicate a 300-square-meter space to a single confectionery partner reflects intensifying competition among major cruise lines to offer headline-grabbing attractions, from record-breaking slides to high-profile chef collaborations. In this context, a large-format chocolate and gelato venue provides an additional talking point for marketing the ship to families and food-focused travelers.
Industry coverage notes that the Venchi experience also taps into the appeal of Italian heritage brands, echoing the line’s broader positioning as a Europe-rooted operator expanding its footprint in North America and Asia. For Venchi, which has been growing its store network worldwide, the partnership provides a high-visibility showcase aboard one of the largest new cruise ships scheduled to enter service in 2026.
Bookings for MSC World Asia’s inaugural Mediterranean season are already open, and the Venchi venue is being promoted as a centerpiece of the ship’s onboard offering. As the vessel approaches its December launch, further details on menus, pricing and programming within the chocolate space are expected to emerge through future promotional material and early guest feedback.
