The slight pullback comes after a strong June and early July, when the network first exceeded an average of 36,000 daily flights and individual days set new post‑pandemic records. Publicly available briefings for Weeks 26 and 27 highlighted day peaks above 37,000 flights and delay levels that, while rising, were still tracking well below 2025.
For airlines and airports, the Week 29 numbers suggest demand has not collapsed but is no longer climbing at the same pace. That shift places more attention on how efficiently the system can process existing volumes rather than on accommodating further sharp increases in traffic.
ATFM delays jump 80% despite near-flat traffic
