Analysts note that this lingering impact is especially pronounced at carriers with large A320neo fleets that initially selected the GTF as their primary engine option. Some airlines have responded by deferring growth plans, while others have accelerated the shift of future deliveries to rival powerplants. Yet the obligation to cycle through existing engines under mandatory inspection regimes means that the consequences of earlier choices will continue to be felt for several more seasons.

For passengers, the knock-on effect typically appears not as outright safety concerns but as reduced frequencies, tighter spare aircraft buffers, and limited capacity on popular routes, which can translate into higher fares during peak periods. In that sense, the most acute phase of the crisis is likely behind the industry.

The formal inspection program, combined with the time required to retrofit or replace affected components, ensures that disruption will not vanish quickly.
